2026 International Legal History
Meeting of PhD Students

September 23-24, 2026
at the Department of the History of the State and Law
Faculty of Law, Masaryk University in Brno

  • We are pleased to announce the third annual conference for PhD students specialising in legal history and Roman law, following two successful previous editions that resulted in two peer-reviewed conference volumes indexed in the Web of Science (2022, 2024). The conference thus offers not only an opportunity for scholarly exchange, but also real prospects for international academic publication.

The event aims to create a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment for doctoral candidates to present their research, share experiences, and establish lasting professional connections. The thematic scope remains intentionally broad, welcoming contributions on state and legal development as well as Roman law and its European contexts.

Selected papers will be published in English in a peer-reviewed conference proceeding.

The conference will take place on 23–24 September 2026 at the Department of the History of the State and Law, Faculty of Law, Masaryk University in Brno. Applications should be submitted by 15 May 2026 via the Faculty Registration System. Participation may be limited to ensure a focused and interactive academic setting.

We look forward to welcoming the next generation of legal historians and Romanists to Brno.
